Hmmmmm, i think you are right. I have seen the pictures of that car you mention. I also have a 90 240 and an 84 240. It looks like you would be able to use the 86+ front end with the -85 hood and cowl. That means that you could use any flat hood from a pre 1980(?) 240. So if you get an 84 for your project, just go to a junkyard and find a hood from an old 240. Looks like a good project!

I have to warn you, though, the 86+ US headlights aren't good. They are ok at best, and degrade to poor fairly easily.

The Euro lights for the 84 aren't that expensive. Every once in a while I see a set on Ebay, and the winning bid isn't sky high.
