FWIW, my experience with the tool: use a little vaseline on the tool and lips of the seal and slip it on. It is tight and works only (in my experience) with the gray or sort of black Volvo seals. At that point, just screw it on to the cam or midshaft. The red Elring seals ---- I can't get to fit on the tool.

BTW, it was the cam position sensor on my 93 'no start'.
