Throttle Position Sensor 700 1987

Perhaps the name is a bit misleading. The TPS on these Volvos is really a throttle positiion switch which indicates when throtle is closed so that the idle air control will take over idle speed. It also signals when throttle is wide open to allow a richer mixture. In between it does nothing. When throttle is moved by hand just off the stop you should here the switch click and then again when throttle is returned.
Hesitation off the line may be a gunged up throttle body.
