1 o'clock boost 700

My needle is showing boost at 1 o'clock. Is that right, or should I be getting more boost than that? My car feels gutless! Oh yeah, it's a 1990 740 Turbo Wagon, with 227,000 miles (used engine installed 2 months ago). TIA
