Well, it finally happened. The cracks in my leather seat (driver's, seat bottom)are beginning to come apart and form holes. I have faithfully treated them with lexol for the last couple of years, but the damage was already done when I got the car. So, this is my question: Is there a way to repair the damage without getting the seat reupholstered? I stopped by a auto upholstery store today and if I take the seat cover out myself and reinstall it, they can replace the three leather panels for $300! I could almost do that myself.
I read in the FAQ's about a leather repair kit - leather magic, I think it is called. Anyone out there had any luck with it? Any other suggestions? I do not plan to replace the seat cover with vinyl or cloth. I suppose a sheepskin cover is always an option.
