start this @#%$% thing in the cold 120-130 1967

I'm new to the VOLVO scene. I have a '67 122s. Dual carb, variable venturi, manual choke. It's really a trick to start. After removing the plugs in those "no start" conditions I find them wet (flooded) even though the choke used sparingly or not at all. The tough part is that you can't hold the pedal down to open it up for a flooded start because of the slides being down in the carbs prevents air from getting in.

Anybody got any thoughts on this.
