I have seen several 700 series with driving lights mounted in the air dam, looks like a factory item. Since they are lower to the ground you may get a better high-lighting of pot holes. Also, maybe someone has used the yellow lens driving lights. They relay system could help, too, just by providing full voltage to the existing lights.

I remember from my skiing days that yellow goggle lenses made for better contrast on cloudy days. I even used said goggles during recovery from a minor eye injury that forced me to make do with one eye and still walk over snow-plowed piles without tripping. The yellow enhanced contrast very well, so the one eye "flat" vision worked.
