Problem solved!! (maybe) 200 1987

Well, here's what I did and the results:

I took the fuel pressure regulator advice, and contacted Import Auto Specialists about buying a new unit. They told me they could sell me a new one for $39.95, and could overnight it for $13. Pretty good deal. But, the guy says, we have a warehouse in Harrisburg--right by where I work. He contacted them and they had the part. I bought it, and I drove 7 nervous miles (I wasn't sure the car would make it) to pick it up at will-call.

I swapped it out in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart. It took me about 15 minutes, tops.

Result: the car runs just great. I've been driving it all night in the kind of conditions that should foul everything up, and I have had no problems--not one hesitation, not one "bog down", not one stall. It drives like I remember when I bought it.

If I make it to work tomorrow morning without trouble (I'm taking the long way to test it), then I'll declare it "fixed".

But so far, so good. I'll file a full report Friday around lunchtime!
