Automatic shifts with difficulty 700 1990

Hello,

The patient is a 1990 740 Turbo with Automatic. About 145,000 miles on it. It is having trouble upshifting unless I back off the gas. Then when I get back on the gas, it downshifts again. Most annoying on the freeway with it trying to stay in 3rd unless I really feather the throttle.

Any thoughts?
