overheating 200 1991

My Volvo has come close to overheating twice in the last week not while I was driving but when I was parking the car and put it into park. The temp. gauge almost went into the red zone. Recently the radiator was flushed out and the coolant was replaced. The fan belts and water pump seem to be working correctly. Also, the cat. converter was recently replaced by an IPD one. The radiator is clean inside and outside. So, why is it nearly overheating? Any ideas?
