I need to get a MM. Fluke 88 is the best MM I know of, but pricey. Is there anything else that will do all I need to do , like maybe the Fluke 78? I'd hate to invest a good amount of bucks only to find out that the MM lacks some important function. I would rather have it and not use it than not have it when I need it. I don't know a whole lot about MM's. Just that I mostly need AC/DC volts, AC/DC amps, AC/DC ohms. But I know that those AMM's in the Volvos have temperature switches that can be tested, so I really want a fully functional meter. I ask the question because some MM's have functions I would never use. But I don't know what those functions are, that's why I ask the question. Like, will I need frequency or duty cycle? Forget brand, just let me know what I need to do it all and what I don't.
I would want the capability of testing all switches, sensors, wires. fuses, connectors, motors, relays, etc., with an assortment of clips and probes, shockproof rubberized case, and backlit if possible, as user friendly as possible.
Thanks Rob
