/// Superchargers are essentially Turbos. The supercharger is a WWII tool to allow high altitude from piston driven aircraft engines. I think of a supercharger as a crank shaft driven compressor that pumps air into the engine to allow more fuel to be used in each chamber. The turbo is an exaust gas driven (?) supercharger. You may argue this and we may have a good discussion with more experienced board members.
I do remember in the 50s and 60 there was discussion about the acceleration performance. The supercharger was said to "wind up" to higher speed but it required some distance to achieve the highest performance it was capable of.
