Hi If it is the same as my 86 740, it is indeed buried under the intake manifold. It is reachable, but you have to reach in there with your hand and figure out how to take it out carefully. Been there, done it, and it worked fine. I would suggest taking a look at the Brickboard's Maintenance Hints (edited by Steve Ringlee) I think there are good instructions and diagrams there. Also RPR Board. Good luck. When I pulled mine apart it was perfectly clean, just a little greasy, but not blocked up at all.
