My friend who was a Volvo tech in Denmark before he moved here nearly 50 years ago told me that after servicing a car the road test involved driving it 8 miles down a highway foot to the floor in 3rd gear. By the time they got back to the shop it would have picked up 10 mph. The "Italian Tune-up" is no myth. When I worked for MB in 1969 we did something similar--but not nearly that distance. -- Dave
