240 Neutral safety switch problem

I might have a problem with my neutral safety switch on a 1989 245.
When trying to start the car it just clicks once at the starter/solenoid.
I have replaced battery cables checked and cleaned grounds.Battery good. 12.9 V
I tried to start in neutral on the AW 70 gear selector....just clicks once.
Would this one click problem be related to the neutral safety switch?
