I'm still working on the 94 940 NA Bosch with the fuel pump next to the fuel filter and under the driver's seat. There is a very rusty part just behind the fuel pump I would like to replace. I looked at #20:

and I think this is the part.

What can I use in place of this part and is it really needed. I wonder if it is just an expansion tank to smooth out the flow of fuel (maybe I'm wrong her). I'd like to replace this rusty part along with the fuel pump and filter but this part is no longer available.
