Head for 2300cc engine 200

Hi Dave

I'm just picking up on this boring out each cylinder. An increase in the total displacement will result but is it reasonable to get about one hundred CC's per cylinder?

That seems like a lot for a few thousandths out on the bore. Pistons sets usually only go up to .040 over standard for repair purposes.

It has been my experience, with air cooled motorcycle engines, that they do not leave that much meat in the cylinder.
Never heard of someone making 250cc into a 350cc motorcycle with only boring it.
The Bore and stroked term, I can understand that.
You get a lot more displacement by changing the stroke a wee bit.
A Ford 360 ci can turn into a 390 ci by changing the crank spin diameter by only .250 of an inch times eight. That's moving each cylinder up about 80 CC's.

My question must be about this block he has. Is it special or has Volvo always cast this block really heavy?
Making it the same for any future years.
He has his at 1986 cc and it will go either to a 2.1 and 2.3-4 while only boring.

Interesting that this would explain the head changes over the years.
Here I thought they made drastic change in the cross flows heads sales pitches.
That was what I thought the "F" meant that while they were going into turbocharging.

Does the block have extra thick cooling jackets?

Is he putting in other components from a B230 or just a new head? Apparently the head bolt spacing stayed the same over the years or not?

Wow! Tricky! Maybe I explain it to myself.
Can you shed any different light on my thoughts?

Phil
