Well, not exactly leaking, the block heater I installed last November turns out was the wrong one, and I lost all my coolant in a matter of seconds about a mile from home. Sure happy I installed a brilliantly bright red light on the dash to signify low coolant. Engine is a 93 B230FT.
So I went back to the FLAP and got the proper block heater (they sold me the wrong one originally) and I have spent the week trying to plug that frost plug hole.The rubber oring on the heater keeps rolling out when I try to install it. I just roughed up the oring seat, and at the moment am waiting for some RTV to set up overnight that is hopefully going to hold the darned oring in place while I try for the umpteeth time to install it in the morning.
I really don't need a block heater where I live, but deceided last fall when I was replacing the engine, that I would put one in. Bad decision, this has been nothing but grief.
I have tried a 1.5 inch rubber expansion plug, but it is too deep, or the gallery is too shallow, to allow me to completely insert it.
I am starting to think I should just put a regular frost plug in there, although I have no idea how the heck I would seat it, as there is absolutely no room to swing a hammer to seat it. Can someone tell me what size the hole is? I have a new 45mm frost plug on hand, but I think I need something smaller. Anyone know???
