Thanks Art! The lamp cord bypass worked great and I happy that the gauge will actually act like a gauge now. My new normal temp location is slightly below the 9:00 position. Funny how perfectly the lamp cord fits those tiny pins.

I made this cluster wiring diagram / photo below to help remember where the wires go on my 1990 5 speed LH 3.1 car, might help someone.
