Replace Cruise Control Unit ? How To Test It ?? 900 1994

I have tried everything and my cruise control still isn't working properly. My last resort is to replace cruise control unit under hood. Before I do so I would like to know if there is a way to test mine. If so how do I do so ?? Wish I had a known good one then I would simply try that one in my car but alas I do not. Thanks all for your help.
