M46 OD Gasket Leaking 200 1983

So, from your description, the leak would be more accurately described as being between the gearbox and the intermediate housing.

The OD unit is definitely removable without removing the entire transmission. I think the intermediate housing is also removable just by itself. Wait to hear from someone else on that, though.

I don't know if the gasket is available but you could easily make one.

Before doing anything you need to release the overdrive. But rather than launch into explanations let me ask, have you tried just tightening the fasteners in the area of the leak?

Also, am I correct in assuming you don't really live in Autaugaville, AL?
