i wrote about this exact problem a few years back regarding a NA 940 with a flickering oil light and very low pressure at idle.
what i found was that the oil pipe with gasket rings attached has a bit of slop between the time you tighten it down and set it up in the block at one end and in the oil pumps at the other.
what i found was if the pipe is not held in place centered.....as you tighten the bolts the pipe gets slightly misaligned off center allowing the o rings especially the one into the block to seat off center. meaning more gasket on one side less on the other.
it is this which ultimately allows pressure to push the gasket out.
