Mine was leaking lightly and developing play in rack/pinion (260k). Went ahead and got the Jorgen rack. Less then two hours labor at my indy Volvo shop and the car drives tight like it is brand new again. (http://www.jorgenauto.com/) I would not want to tackle the job myself, even though I do other maintenance. My car did not even need front alignment, they can match the adjustment on tie rods if car is aligned well already. Worth it to me.
