This post got me thinking about an issue w/my car

I have what I think is a worn out clutch in one of my bricks. With the clutch pedal pressed to the floor, the car rolls forward at 3 or 4 mph in 1st gear unless I keep my foot on the brake. Shifting is also difficult. The cable cannot be adjusted at this point and the engagement point (if it still has one) is pretty much right off the floorboard.

But, the clutch does not slip. The other day I tried this: Car in 3rd gear at about 15 mph, full throttle acceleration up to 60 mph before shifting into 4th. Clutch did not slip at all.

So, could the cable be binding? I had a few break on me less than a year apart and they ended up soldering the ball to the back of the clutch cable. Or could the problem be a bad release bearing? It seems like the clutch itself is OK. I would think that a truly worn out clutch would slip like mad, especially under the conditions of my 3rd gear test.
