key will not go into ignition 200 1990

Friends Volvo but the key matched the year although he had a 70's 245 years ago so there is that small chance but it looks like the same key I've used in the past when trying to figure out the issue..

I'm having a tough time thinking that just by taking off the ignition switch that I have somehow messed up the lock. I mean it was two small screws that allow it to come off. But then again anything is possible. I was hoping I wasn't the first one with this issue.
