Own a Jeep; get a free Volvo Crank Holding Tool?
Yeah, I’m not sure what Stars aligned at that moment that made this happen either. It’s 4th of July.. My neighbor is having a BBQ in his yard with a mess of friends and family. My wife was working ½ day so I figured, let me pull the Jeep out of the garage and give it a wash and wax. I just started pushing the sponge around the Jeep when some stranger strolls up the driveway. “ Hi, I have a newer jeep and I heard you fire that thing up and well, that aint no 6 banger under the hood.”
The Jeep is my toy I’ve owned it since around 1980. In that time I have put a fiberglass body on it and a Chevy motor in it. I made all the custom brackets and I painted it…. I am very proud of. It will be my coffin when I die. Anyway..this guy doesn’t even make it all the way up my driveway when he sees the Volvo in the garage. In a split second I went from proud father of ‘my’ Jeep to why is this guy walking over to the Volvo? “Hey hey are you kidding me, you have an old Volvo too?” This Guest of my neighbor just sold his 740 and wishes he didn’t. Much like myself he did all the maintenance on it, loved how easy it was to work on etc etc. I like the Volvo (obviously) but yo, let’s talk about the Jeep, that’s where all the custom work is besides, I need to rinse the soap off…..we finally get back to the reason he came up the Driveway. So we B.S. about the jeep and what all I did to it and how this old girl is so much easier to work on then his jeep with the toy engine.
After a bit, he figures his wife must be looking for him so he says goodbye and heads down the drive. He stops and turns around and says “ Hey, what do you do about Timing Belts? I have a Crank holding tool collecting dust on my Pegboard. You want it?” So there you go, Own a Jeep get a Crank holding tool for a Volvo.
