Which end is up? 700

All new Volvo factory parts...everything new except the spring and strut housing. So, yes, new rubber spring seat, new steel plate, new bearing, new mounting plate...new everything, all properly installed except maybe for the bump stop.

The squeak sounds like rubber on metal...a lot like how rubber soled shoes squeak on a hard, shiny floor when they are wet.

I remember when the original bump stops and bellows wore out. I cut off the deteriorated bellows, then a few months later, the bump stop fell down, out of the rubber spring seat. It squeaked too, so I cut it off as well...no more squeak.

I am going to my local Volvo dealer in the morning and talk to one of my tech friends. I will take a new rubber seat and bump stop, and see what he says about its installation. I bet I do have the bump stops upside down, so they can move around a little and rub against the shock piston rod.

Will let you know tomorrow.
