2002's were great!

I didn't get much out of my transmission - notchy in second the entire time I had it. I forgot about the distributor. Mine developed shaft wear, so I found a Bosch dealer within the local VW independant and got a new tii distributor for $125.00, which was way less than BMW who wanted $350.00. I never got over the parts prices.
Popped the heater control valve, so the dealer parts guy said $60.00! That was in 1977. So I snorted and said "maybe you have a rebuild kit for the damn thing?!". He said "Yep, $3.00". Two o-rings. I ran home with them.
I learned more about high speed driving and cornering in that car than any other since.
You're right, good to reminisce!
Rhys
ps - Remember Michelin XAS tires?
