True, I was conflating systems with that knock sensor anecdote. But I've intentionally induced codes on both Rex and Regina for various reasons and never had a problem resetting everything via the battery cutoff. Including the ECT that is giving Randy a hard time.

It is possible for these computers to fail, I sold one of my spares to a fellow brickboarder several months back. I believe his problem was that the car would idle but die with any attempt to accelerate, and it was running extremely rich. (or, as the guy who struck up a conversation with me at the salvage yard recently put it: "running richer than Oprah Winfrey")
