Bosch coil polarity? 200 1983

Bought a new Borg Warner coil after the old Bosch coil started throwing out sparks, and the car is intermittently running very badly.

BW coil has + and - at the little posts, but the Bosch coil has "1" and "15". There is a red and a black wire, but apparently you can't always go by that.

Parts store nor dealership can tell me anything, and I don't have enough understanding of these things to figure it out on my own :/
