is higher octane gas better for my Bricks?

I run high-octane fuel in my 240 because the engine pings on lower octane. I'm not sure if there are other benefits to it other than some manufacturers place cleaners in the high-octane gas, which may explain why I've never had a problem with my fuel injectors.
