is higher octane gas better for my Bricks?

Here in New Mexico most stations are at 10% ethanol.
I feel that this past 2 summers the high ethanol was
causing the engines in my 240 models to suffer.

I heard that one of the stations here, on an Indian Reservation
(near a casino) about 10 miles away had zero ethanol because
they did not have to follow the Federal guidelines. Well when
I drove out there in August, to fill er' up, I found out that
it was actually labeled "up to 10% ethanol". I asked the clerk
and she had no idea what I was talking about. Ethanol added to
the fuel increases profits for the stations.

I am going to guess that a higher octane fuel would counter-act
the ethanol, but that is only a guess.

Does "better" gas really clean your injectors/engine?
