Could a clean flame trap solve a hot start problem? 200 1993

I have the hot air feed to the air box disconnected so it should always be getting 'ambient' air.
I haven't messed with the fuel pressure regulator before, but I will take a look. I don't have any blue smoke or rough idle at start up - just the oil light on for a few seconds.

I'm a pretty big novice, so I don't really understand the "Where is the compression" question.

thanks
