940 Electrical Problem 900 1994

The a/c recently died on my 1994 940 wagon. The radio went dead too. The fuses are all OK.

My local mechanic found there was no power getting to the A/C. He figured that the A/C button on the dash was broken.

As a quick fix, he installed a jumper wire directly to the A/C unit. The A/C now works fine. The temp controls work perfectly too.

But the radio is still not getting power.

Question:

Does anyone know if the radio draws power from the same circuit as the A/C?

If so, can I use a jumper to provide power to the radio? I don't feel like tearing apart the dash, if it can be avoided.

My alternative solution might be to replace the radio with an aftermarket unit and tap directly into the fusebox. (The existing radio is the original cassette unit and the tape player is long dead.)

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Many thanks.
