engine will not start 700 1989

Hello Goodtimes,

Welcome to the Brickboard.

I must say, this is a new one on me. It would never have crossed my mind to disconnect two injectors to see if it would start. What prompted you to do that?

Regardless, the problem is apparently excess fuel. Now, what can cause that?

Fuel pressure regulator. This would also produce a very rich mixture; your mileage would be way down. It would also be difficult to start, cold or warm.
Leaking injectors. The injectors are no longer suspect; eliminated in your description of measures taken.
Cold start injector leaking. This certainly bears investigation.
Engine coolant temperature sensor faulty. See the FAQ (navigate using the "select shortcut" found in the upper right corner of every page on the Brickboard).
Defective ECU. This is not likely; it runs fine once started.

I would test the ECT and the cold start injector. Both live under the manifold and are a PITA but it has to be done. I am sure others will have some leads to follow too.

Let us know what you find.
