Pulling out the dash 140-160 1971

I'm going to post photos soon of my instrument panel disassembled. Replacing the bulbs is pretty straightforward. I am replacing the voltage stabilizer in mine from the mechanical one to solid state with a couple parts from Radio Shack. I am hoping this fixes my fuel gauge and temp gauge - neither is registering anything on the dash. I've heard that this is most often a problem with the voltage stabilizer on the dashboard.

Getting the instrument panel out is possible but it's a pain in the ass 3-D puzzle. You have to disconnect all the wires and the speedo cable from the back. Took me about a half hour of gently wiggling and turning it to get it out.
