Sort of sounds like you are wanting to remove only the pad that surrounds the dash, and.. that cannot be done. It is one with the steel dashboard behind...

The whole thing is removable, but unless you have good reason (such as one that isn't cracked), I wouldn't do it. Not yet. You can remove the instruments with the dash in place.
