Okay, I have looked at a few posts but this would seem to be a dumb place to make a mistake so I am seeking confirming/second opinions.
I am planning on installing IPD front and rear sway control bars on my 245DL and I am not a car mechanic, but I am not afraid of this one either. Seems pretty straight ahead and I have the proper tools.
Here is what I perceive as the danger; the floor jack/ramp/jack-stand part of it. I don't know enough about how high, what gets in the way of the job, how safe, and most importantly, where to put the jack stands. I don't want to damage the car or me (in that order but not far apart!) I have all of the above; jack, ramps and jack-stands, some 4x4 blocks and some 2x4 blocks.
I am guessing that I can't use ramps because I have to get the weight off the wheels before I can attach the bars?? So that leaves floor jack and jack-stands. Can I put the jack stands under the axle or will that prevent attaching the bars? If I put the stands under the jack points, will I be able to get the high enough to work on it?
There is probably a correct way to do this job. Would you all be so kind as to tell me the dope?
Thanks all.
Thanks.
