Strange sound when engine is shut off S90-V90

I did not think you would get it very clear. I don't know the name of the thing in question. It is a blower looking thing on the side of the exhaust. It suppose to turn on when you start the cold engine and cut off a couple of minutes later. If you turn the engine while is running it sounds something like what you describe.
