David--Thanks for all the info! I'm so used to the 89+ models, that I forgot/didn't know about some of the little differences from the earlier models. I didn't realize the service light was knew in 88. I've never really liked mine--it seems to come on at such random intervals, so I tend to just rest and ignore it. No cruise control in any of the cars, so that simplifies things.
I just got the odometer gear in the mail, so I'm going to try to get that in soon, and hope that fixes it.
