Today I was replacing some burnt out bulbs for the dashboard switches and shift indicator in my 740 Wagon. When I went to open the tailgate, it wouldn't open with the doors unlocked. The only way I could open it was by climbing over the rear seat and using the inside lever. The tailgate lock cylinder is terminally corroded (needs an expensive lock cylinder replacement) so the solenoid is the only easy way to open the tailgate. I'm thinking it could be a disconnected harness, which I'll look at when the weather permits. Could it be anything else?
