There is a small oblong aluminum cap which covers the ends of the three shifter shafts, above the output shaft flange. It's held on with a couple of large screws. The wire terminal connects to a plastic flange that has a small wire spring that grounds out on the reverse selector shaft when it moves backwards on engagement. The little spring can break off.
