I pull my engine with a 3-ton chain hoist and a couple short lengths of chain. I use the top two bellhousing bolts for one of the chain lengths. I attach the other chain at the front using two larger bolt holes (5/16-1/2) above the motor mounts. I've never had any issues with these front points. I then attach the two lengths together with an omega-ring and hook that to the chain hoist.
I've done this seven times solo with no issues. Without a leveler, it is helpful to park a floor jack under the gearbox to help maneuver things.
Whatever you do, don't forget to remove the shifter and the slave cylinder!
