Not a problem per se, but more of an issue. I've rebuilt the front hubs (and everything else on this car) and was putting them in for the final time today when I noticed that the cotter pin hole is no where near the right location. I've changed all the bearings and installed new outer races in the hubs - everything is new. I followed the green book instructions and put the hubs on and torqued them down to 50 ft/lbs. then slackened them off 2 flats. Turns freely and everything is seated. The only problem is that my cotter pin hole is almost on the outside of the nut! Not much good out there.
Should I re-drill the hole? I've not left anything out. Has anyone tried a nylon locking nut in place of the castelated nut? What's the fix?
