engine sputtering 200 1989

Welcome to the Brickboard!

113: is a fault in the fuel injectors (that is what put the check engine light on)
231: is the fuel system compensating for a lean or rich mixture (at cruise, not idle)
234: Throttle control faulty. Engine runs but the timing is retarded 10 degrees

See if your Throttle Position Sensor (black square-ish switch on the back of the Throttle Body) clicks immediately as you open the throttle, and again when the throttle is seated. If it doesn't, it needs adjustment or replacement. You might as well remove the whole throttle body and give it a good cleaning. Buy a new fiber gasket for the throttle body, and one for the TPS if you replace it. When you clean the throttle body, make sure none of the cleaner gets into the electronics, also be sure to clean the small vacuum nipples. iPD sells a kit complete with instructions and a new TB gasket. Make sure you reset the computers afterward by unhooking that battery.

Invest in a Bentley manual, if you already haven't. It will be the best $40 you will spend on your 240. I think I saw them recently on Amazon for $29.99

Good luck,

Justin
