Hey Brickowner,
You may want to check the electrical function of your coolant temperature sensor. Testing it is described well in the FAQ. If the sensor reports a erroneously cold temperature to the injection computer, the mixture will be far richer than it needs to be. Another thing you may want to check is the condition of your oxygen sensor. If its old/worn. it will cause a poor idle and needlessly richen the mixture. Check the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator (fuel relief valve) to the intake manifold. If its leaking or loose, a higher than usual engine load reading will cause the injection pressure to be far higher than it needs to be. Take a look at the thermostatic spring in the air cleaner. These will direct cool/warm air into the air cleaner depending upon ambient temperature. When these fail, they stick in the hot air position. The excessively hot air is bad for the air mass meter.
