pre-crash engine trouble

Seems to me that such a rapid loss of in oil pressure is more from a failing oil pump than from worn main or con-rod bearings.

You tech confirmed that the light was on properly, by how? By checking the actual oil pressure? I understand that a pressure guage can be connected by removing the oil pressure sensor and installing a different fitting for the gauge.

If you are going to pull the engine, you have a chance to pull the oil pan and examine/replace the oil pump much easier than if the engine is in the car.

If the 940 is a '92 or '93, I understand that those were the best B230F engines ever.

Good Luck,

Bob
