There is a lever for the bottom cushion on the right-rear side of the cushion at the floor. Depress this lever and the lower cushion will rotate toward the front and come to a vertical position.

For the backrest, there is a triangle shaped handle at the back-side center of the backrest. Twist this handle about 90 degrees and that will pull in the locking mechanism on both sides. The backrest should then pivot down to horizontal easily.
