I ended up getting an "iCarPlay Wireless Plus", "buy it now" on ebay, for about $25, including shipping. These things normally retail for about eighty bucks, but the one I got was sold as having come in "bulk packing", whatever that means. It didn't come in a fancy retail box, but it appears to be new.
I tried it out on the Bendix AM/FM radio, which most likely came out of a 140 or late 122 but looks close to period in the PV, and it works beautifully. Not stereo, of course, but still a pretty nice sound from the two kick panel plus two hat shelf speakers. So, all together, a worthwhile exercise. The fact that I now don't have to move a stack of CDs from one car to another is a bonus.
The Bendix, BTW, doesn't seem to be wandering off station any more than the tuner in the CD player was, so, at least for the moment, I won't be shipping it off for repair.
Thanks again for the input.
