speedometer cable 140-160 1968

Hi, I am still a bit confused as to what speedometer cable will work for my application. The car is a 68 but a J-Type M41 from a 74 140 will be installed. Will a long speedo cable from a 72 140 work? If I am not mistaken this was the last year to use the original style speedometer?
Please verify this
